Two artists built APW. Gerard Sternik and Vince Peets have developed APW’s distinctive curriculum based on years of mentoring and teaching young artists.
Their central belief is that observational drawing is at the heart of life drawing, animation, illustration, painting (traditional or digital), film or any visual art-form. Foundational training in how to draw can open doors for creativity.
This is a unique opportunity to take the full APW program and learn each week from the two artists who started APW. The course is focused on creating your best entrance portfolio and also on building skills to meet the challenges of an animation or illustration program.
In 2025/2026 Gerard Sternik and Vince Peets will join forces to teach the APW Directors Class beginning on Sunday, May 4th 2025 and finishing on Sunday February 15th 2026.
This special 2025/26 Signature Online Directors Class covers Life Drawing, Drawing for Animation and includes focused and practical portfolio review sessions.
- Gerard Sternik teaches Life Drawing
Life Drawing covers Gesture drawing, contour drawing, constructive drawing, basic shape and mass analysis, as well as basic anatomical drawing.
- Vince Peets teaches Drawing for Animation
Drawing for Animation covers structural object drawing, linear perspective, layout development and design, character construction and design, beat-boards, storyboard development and animation basics.
